Sedgman Prudentia performed the EPCM for the Alpha HPA Precursor Production Facility. This project was required to produce 1t samples for Alpha HPA off-taker testing. Prudentia has designed, constructed and operated the pilot plant and were able to quickly mobilise and build a complex chemical plant in Gladstone with automatic control fully integrated operation.
Solution
Alpha HPA had a pilot plant which could produce approx. 100kg/month of high purity alumina products. This was not sufficient for off-taker testwork and hence a larger plant was required fast-track. Prudentia performed all works including earthworks, civils, structural, mechanical, piping, process, instrumentation and controls engineering. We also performed all procurement and construction management.
With our unique knowledge of the Alpha HPA process and knowledge on small scale we did not need to buy specialist equipment from vendors instead this was done in-house to expedite delivery. We designed the Leaching, Ion Exchange, Solvent Extraction and Crystallisation circuits so local fabricators could fabricate the plant saving capital and time.
We also performed commissioning, with our in depth knowledge, the plant was running at 70% capacity within 2 weeks of commissioning starting.
