Low Low Pressure Conversions

Sedgman Prudentia executed 3 similar projects in parallel to integrate standard three-phase separator and screw compressor packages into existing satellite compressor stations at Della, Tirrawarra and Gidgealpa taking them from concept through to execute phase. This included modifying the existing plant and pipeline manifolds to reconfigure them for the change and providing assurance and technical input into the parallel design development processes of the standard packages to ensure they were fit for purpose.

Solution

Sedgman Prudentia were awarded a series of similar projects to help modify three satellite compressor stations to allow them to operate at much lower inlet gas pressures.  These projects were the first of a larger project to convert their Cooper Basin to this operating mode.  This work involved integrating a third party design for 3 phase separator and screw compressor into an existing plant – as the design of these packages matured changes to the design integration scope was managed / updated to suit.

The integration scope involved all modifications to inlet gas manifolds for the lower operating pressures / higher velocity operation, condensate and water interfaces with the compressor station, emergency shutdown systems and modification of the standard plant designs for the specific site.  Sedgman Prudentia were involved in some aspects of the assurance of the third party designs to ensure that we were able to quickly and efficiently update our design to reflect the changes.  Key challenges relating to the staging of the works, tie-in locations and requirements for future tie-ins required multiple versions of project deliverables to match the staged delivery of the works.

Sedgman Prudentia have taken these projects from their initial design through to detailed design with the issue of construction work packs for installation.  As part of our end to end solution, we are also developing standard operating and commissioning procedures, standard function test and critical function test procedures on behalf of the client.  We will supply process engineering pre-commissioning and commissioning services to commission the separator and compressor packages.
