Sedgman Prudentia were engaged to debottleneck a gold circuit which was suffering from filtration capacity and recovery issues. Prudentia were engaged to oversee testwork, detailed design, package management including the filter supplied from the US, construction support and commissioning lead. Due to the high value of the opportunity, the project was delivered in an accelerated manner with schedule performance achieving the stretch target. Several improvements such as filter location, modularisation and cut-over strategy were implemented to minimise plant downtime and enable early commissioning.
Solution
Sedgman Prudentia were engaged by the client to complete the detailed design following a concept study completed by others. We identified significant value in changing the filter selection, sizing and strategy to deliver benefits to the operation, and with thorough engagement with the project team and stakeholders, altered the key driver for the project from minimum CAPEX to fastest delivery and maximum throughput and recovery. We worked as an integrated team with the client, developing the strategy for progressive release of funding for long lead procurement packages, allowing the project to be completed within 12 months from commencement of design to commissioning. Services included multidiscipline engineering, vendor/procurement management for 18 packages, construction supervision, commissioning management and technical assistance with operational readiness.
Our team’s engagement with all functions of the clients business (operations, maintenance, reliability etc) enabled numerous existing challenges to be identified and ‘engineered out’ with the improved facility such as maintenance strategy for the unit and rotable spare, design of pressure equipment incl. overpressure protection and improved performance monitoring.
